First post of the year and new beginnings…

new beginnings

Hello everyone, Happy belated New Years for all of you!

First post of the year and it is on the 23rd, big fail… If you haven’t realized it yet, me and my blog like to take time off of each other once in a while. But I’m back! One of my new years resolution was to be constant with this blog, I’m starting that kind of late BUT it’s always better late than never, right?

So far in the new year I’ve been looking for a job. Last Wednesday I went to an interview in a clinic to work with a cardiologist and he said he’d call me between Friday and Monday, but it’s Thursday now and he never called (yeah, I am a little sad about that), and I went to another one on Monday and I think I got that one, so I’m getting ready all the papers I need to give to them in order for me to start working there. That one it’s in a laboratory analyzing ABGs (arterial blood gasses) samples, I was an intern there in my second year 🙂

My birthday it’s next month (February 21st) and I’ll be 25. I used to think that by 25 I would have my life figured out, but I’m so far from that. The fact that I finished school and now I’m looking for a job doesn’t mean that I do, I still don’t know what to do with my life. Even after all those years in school I still ask myself everyday: is this really what I want to spend the rest of my life doing? And to be honest, I don’t think I do. Hopefully I’ll figure it out soon, because it’s stressful and sometimes depressing to feel like that. Hello Quarter-Life Crisis!

Graduation it’s in March! (Woo-Hoo!). I’m excited about that and also quite stressed, if you read the last paragraph you’ll know it’s true. Time for me to be an adult!… March also means that it’s my goddaughter’s 3rd birthday. Plans are already in the making, the invitations are almost ready and that’s it so far. We still need to do lots of things, I’ll post pictures everything as we work on it.

I’m also working on the graduation logo. I don’t know if this is done somewhere else or only here, but when a class graduate we make shirts with a logo that represents that class, and I have to do it for mine. I was brave enough to volunteer to do it and they agreed, to be honest I think it was because I’m the only one in my class who knows how to work with Photoshop and Illustrator.

There are also good things coming for this blog! I want to give it a makeover, I’m thinking about some cool stuff to do like changing the colors or having a blog mascot. I want to have it ready by the time my birthday comes, so I have about a month to work on that. And about the posting schedule, I’ll keep posting the quotes of the day everyday and some quick posts here and there, but I promise a long, insightful, meaningful post at least once a week. I promise I’ll really do it this time!

I feel like this is the year for new beginnings, the year to have some new experiences and the year to start saying yes to more new things.

So this is it for today, I gave you an update of what’s been going on so far on the first 23 days of 2014, and I’m so ready for the other 342 to come!

The end of a chapter it’s always the beginning of another great one…

Hello readers!

I’m sorry for being absent for so long, I was finishing school and all I did was study. Now I can proudly say that I’m 100% over with school and that in 4 or 5 months time I will be wearing my graduation cap and gown. I’m so excited!… I’m taking the rest of the year off and in January I’ll star looking for a job.

In this lapse that I haven’t been here I also discovered my love for baking, I’ve been baking cupcakes and cakes like crazy. Last Saturday I took a class on Christmas deserts and I’m anxious to start making them.

I’ve also been making cards and souvenirs for my nephew’s baby shower… Did I mention that my brother and his wife are having a baby? Well, they are! The baby will be here in about a month and we’re all getting ready to welcome him in the family.

I think that sums up what I been doing lately. I feel like I’m getting the hang of things and that I’m slowly working on becoming who I want to be, it’s making me feel a lot better about myself and I couldn’t be happier.

I hope you are all alright, happy and enjoying life a little bit more everyday,

– Jenn

“If you try anything, if you try to lose weight, or to improve yourself, or to love, or to make the world a better place, you have already achieved something wonderful, before you even begin. Forget failure. If things don’t work out the way you want, hold your head up high and be proud. And try again. And again. And again!”

Graduation depression

I haven’t graduated yet and I already feel the pressure and sadness that college graduation can cause. There’s constant pressure of people telling me what they expect of me and I don’t know if I’m going to be able to meet their expectations. In other words, I don’t want to disappoint them.

Most of my friends already have jobs waiting for them to graduate so they can start, and then there’s me with nothing going on. I’m not even sure if this is what I want to do with my life, after all these years I don’t feel like med school is for me anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I still have a strong desire to help people but I don’t want to be trapped between four walls all my life.

Some people say that these things I’m feeling are okay, that it’s completely fine not to be that person who has a job lined up for them before graduating, that I should not panic and relax a bit. But how can I relax when I have the constant pressure of family and society to get a good job and become someone?

What I really want to do is travel. I want to travel to new places, meet people and learn about their country and I want to volunteer abroad… When I tell people this, they laugh. Why do they laugh? Because it’s something that they don’t understand and so they laugh not to be awkward? Or they laugh because they are stuck inside this box of social constraints?

I’m really interested in knowing what YOU think, please leave a comment  down bellow sharing your thoughts on this.
